Mayor Declares Plaju Modern Market Officially


(Palembang, October 16, 2008)

The Mayor, H Eddy Santana Putra just declared the building of Plaju market officially, Thursday (16/10) become the first traditional market which has a modern concept, luxurious and complete in Palembang. This market applies One Stop Trading starts from the daily need goods until fashion. It is located in a strategic region; it was for bus station area. It is 6.248 meter between Jl. Pintu besi I and Jl. Pintu besi II.

The government spent 22 billion in Building the market and it has 404 stores, 352 kiosks and 17 units of storehouse. They are the ex-Retailer in Plaju market, Jl. Kapten Abdullah who will get a place for transaction in the traditional market which is the greatest in Indonesia.

This modern traditional market is not only as One stop shopping but also as One stop trading which is complete, luxurious and even will be crowded in Ulu area, said A Damiri Syamsuddin, a chairman of Melati cooperation—Plaju Market performer.

The Mayor of Palembang city, H Eddy Santana Putra after the official announcement of the market stated that the government official does support every effort which is done by the entrepreneurs to open a representative market that is clean and environmental. Eddy also admits that the government will not ask much charity from the operational market, except market retribution.

“I will support anyone who wants to open a good system and great market like this”, said Eddy. According to him, This Plaju market is the fourth market which is built by cooperation. Hopefully it will be a centre of economy for people in that area, said Eddy with a fully hope.He added, the area of old market which is in front of the new market will be built bus station soon.

The official celebration of the first modern market in Plaju becomes a highlight for people surrounding. Hundred people come on that event. They are even very enthusiastic to see the location after the ceremony.
